Open Source Education project started

I have established a hashtag for this pursuit, so if you add #OpenED to your post on almost any of the social media sites, including WordPress, you will associate that content with this community project.

There comes a time when you are drawn to starting a new project and the next thing you know is that you’re transported to calling. That’s how this feels.

Open ED - Learning just wants to be free

Tweet it out loud

First, it was just an idea for a new Facebook community page to share educational resources that are open sourced (no copyright) and mostly free. Then I started feeling inspired to use my skills and background in social media to grow a movement.

Twitter is the second social media site (that it still in existence at least) that I joined, the first and longest-running is LinkedIn. Even if you don’t have a Twitter account, but have a LinkedIn, Google or Facebook one, reach out and connect with me. They are tied together to share most of my content.

#OpenED

Regardless of your account status, you can always cross-connect using what is known as a “hashtag”. I have established a hashtag for this pursuit, so if you add #OpenED to your post on almost any of the social media sites, including WordPress, you will associate that content with this community project. Easy? Yup!

Making a motto

Learning just want to be free

Free to you and me, and anyone who can access a plethora of free or nearly free, content for self-education, general learning and all educational levels; that’s the way I roll.

After a brief brainstorming sessions…with myself…I came up with the group name, motto, community rules and started up the Facebook community page. The page needs a cover and profile pic, so I created them in Adobe Illustrator using some of the free clip art files I found about a week ago hanging out on my OneDrive. Funny how things comes together that are meant to be.

Great things to come…soon

This is just one day, not even a whole day, and ideas are congealing into a viable project that I feel excited to get into the world. Expect a crowdfunding request to go out, as well as an online storefront (haven’t decided which platform yet for either).

As I like to say, stay tuned for upcoming developments…but no need to wait, just jump in on one of the many social media sites that I have already started. More, so much more, to come!

Opportunities for Forward Progress – Astrology.com

Despite a fairly favorable 72-hour time-span — offering humanity a lot of opportunities for forward progress during Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday just past — the last 48 hours of this month seem more stormy than calm. The Moon in Libra square to Venus in Capricorn (3:15AM) equates with a rise in emotional turmoil, and this 90-degree face-off is given extra intensity as it starts a void lunar uncertainty zone that lasts until 8:04PM.

During this 16+ hour lunar limbo time-span, moody behavior may be more rampant than usual as Juno in Aquarius squares Saturn in Scorpio (5:25AM) while Mars forms a contra-parallel with Chiron (7:34AM). The Juno-Saturn clash is hard to sugar coat as it suggests a rise in temporary rude behavior — possibly affecting lovers as well as business associates and partners. The Mars-Chiron interaction is another forceful challenge that can heighten dis-empowerment — especially emotionally and mentally — in key relationships across the board.

One saving grace — happening several hours later — is an inspirational, 72-degree tie from the Sun to Mars (1:26PM). However, this lone, favorable aspect doesn’t have the gravitas to counteract the three discordant aspects already spreading discontent like a virus. A type of panacea arrives tonight when the Moon ceases to be void as it enters intense Scorpio (8:04PM) for the next 2+ days.

Watch your dreams overnight for clues about the future as the Moon trines Neptune in water signs at 12:40AM tomorrow. [Note to readers: All times are calculated for Pacific Standard Time. Be sure to adjust all times according to your own local time so the alignments noted above will be exact for your location.]

Wild Mind

Blog writing is one of the ways I keep myself active too!

It Started with a Quote

How does one successfully blog while participating fully in the life around them?

I pick up Natalie Goldberg’s Wild Mind. Now I have read and worked through this book several times, but not recently. I want to take my writing deeper. Blogging has been a writing practice for me, like morning pages, a discipline to keep my hand moving. But it’s not enough.

I also teach, both children and teachers. I want to write a book of my experiences, but the forty years of my experiences are more than “cute” stories. I want authenticity, honesty. I want to be able to say the uncomfortable things, in a way that can be heard.

So I will continue my writing practice, my teaching commitments, and working through Wild Mind again. And if I don’t self-destruct (although that might be a book for someone) I’m trusting that what I want will unfold.

Exceptional Mini-Movie by Pantene

It’s not often that we can be moved by a commercial endeavor…this is one of those time; I felt that it needs to be shared with the largest possible audience.
