In the Hearts of Men

It is also true that we have been given free will; the ability, through thought and action, to choose how we proceed in this life on Earth. She is a living, breathing thing; this Earth we live on. She is our Mother and our responsibility. How do you treat your Mother? What responsibility to you take in her future…our home?

Immanuel Kant wrote:

We can judge the heart of a man

by his treatment of animals.

Man has been given a marvelous thing: nature. We are its guardians, caregivers…and, all too often…its destroyers.

Free will

It is also true that we have been given free will; the ability, through thought and action, to choose how we proceed in this life on Earth. She is a living, breathing thing; this Earth we live on. She is our Mother and our responsibility. How do you treat your Mother? What responsibility to you take in her future…our home?

Animals and Men

This is especially true for the animals that we depend on and who depend on us. Unless you are a vegan, they are our food. We must be concerned with how they are raised and brought to our table, their treatment will affect us as well. On the other hand, we have domesticated animals that we call pets. From birds we keep in cages to the horses we keep in barns, but especially the cats and dogs that have become a member of the family.

These animals that we have taken out of their natural environment and brought into our homes. Fido and Fluffy should be treated with the utmost respect, kindness and love. All too often, we see stories of abuse and abandonment. This is a reflection of the heart of their owner. For, as an abuser can do this to an innocent animal, so can it be done to anyone.

Have a Heart

There is a current admonition, “If you see something, say something.”

This applies not only to strange or suspicious behavior in public, but also to those things you may see or be aware of through personal contact. We are each others’ keepers. That goes not only for humans, but for animals…as well as nature.

Happening into Free-fall

Free-fall into what’s happening

The Daily Post

Here’s Andre Dubus III, on how to get our of your own way when writing — it’s aimed at fiction authors, but the underlying idea applies to any writer:

This was my main problem when I was just starting out: I was trying to say something. When I began to write, I was deeply self-conscious. I was writing stories hoping they would say something thematic, or address something that I was wrestling with philosophically. I’ve learned, for me at least, it’s a dead road. It’s writing from the outside in instead of the inside out.

But during my very early writing, certainly before I’d published, I began to learn characters will come alive if you back the f**k off. It was exciting, and even a little terrifying. If you allow them to do what they’re going to do, think and feel what they’re going to think and feel, things start to happen on their own. It’s a beautiful and exciting alchemy. And all these years later, that’s the thrill I write to get: to feel things start to happen on their own.

So I’ve learned over the years to free-fall into what’s happening. What happens then is, you start writing something you don’t even really want to write about. Things start to happen under your pencil that you don’t want to happen, or don’t understand. But that’s when the work starts to have a beating heart.

The Heart of the Matter

Love yourself like you did as a child
The Heart of the Matter

Love is the answer, but what is the question? Is there a heart so open that it is always breaking? Yes…but the point is that if your heart isn’t open, why else would you keep it closed?

We all live in fear…mostly fear of the truth that we ARE love. When you say, I love you to another person, do you expect that phrase to be parroted back to you? If you do, then consider this, you are making your love dependent on the other person’s response…whether you know it or not.

Before you close your heart, once again, to the possibility of loving someone after a big breakup with that special person you were sure was “The One,” consider a couple things.

First, if there was a split, no matter how wonderfully-delicious s/he seemed to be during the honeymoon phase, most likely the reality of that person being more than just your fantasy surely popped the bubble.

Second, the thing we all tend to mistake for love is really need-fulfillment in the form of another person due to the feeling that we ourselves lack something critical to our happiness. If you don’t see anything wrong with that, you can look forward to a lifetime of short, turbulent…if not occasionally fun, relationships. If you’re longing for someone to be more than that, consider changing your perspective.

Finally, and most likely, you will continue failing at the “love game” if you have not done one, very important thing first. What, you may ask, is that secret? You probably will balk at the answer…it’s falling in love with yourself first. Before we can recognize love in another, we must love ourselves. And, in my experience, very few people can look in the mirror without flinching and say to yourself, “I love you.”

This may, at first glance, seem highly egotistical, but it is not. Most of us were taught to have a sense of self-modesty and that we are imperfect, therefore, we have come to reason, we must be unlovable. How sad! Watch little kids before they’ve lost the feeling that they are adorable and lovable. They prance around, singing, laughing, engaging with others freely; no modesty there!

Fast forward to what we call adulthood and it’s no wonder that most of us suffer from feeling that we do not deserve love…even from ourselves! To get to the heart of the matter, there is no better place to start over than to emulative an innocent child. Try it. See what happens. But, most importantly, be gentle and patient with yourself, because it has been a long time since you showed YOU love!

Happy Heart Day!

Happy HEART Day to you too!

I Appreciate You

Just a quick post, simply to thank you for your support and taking the time to read my posts…

Since today’s the day of celebrating love and friendship, I wanted to take the opportunity to thank YOU, for taking the time to read my posts..and perhaps even re-posting my posts, if you have. I have a huge passion for social media and think it’s incredible. As you may have figured, I’m fairly new to the whole blogging thing, and yet to get my head around how to properly set up a professional WordPress site, although for now I am quite comfortable and happy with the look and feel of my site, but I am more than happy though, if you could possibly give me some advice on setting out a more professional looking site.

I’ve made some great friends and followers, through my posts and on Twitter (if you don’t…

Love Wisdom from “Elena Undone”

10 day old dolphin says hi to a baby penguin
Young love is forever.

After watching a small independent movie recently, Elena Undone, I was struck by the underlying theme that spoke to me on a very intimate level and I felt moved to copy down some of the “love wisdom” it contained.  Starting with, “In love, one and one are one!” It’s this all-encompassing love that we all hope and pray to appear in our lives…but are rarely prepared for it when it happens, and, it does happen.

I’ve written about the concept of Twin Flames; this movie languaged it in a way that was profound and dead-on…

Here are the Ten Signs to look for in what the movie calls the “Ultimate Love Connection”:

  1. It may come in an unusual, unexpected package –not what we think we’re looking for or even believe we want.
  2. These people may meet “randomly”.
  3. Everything seems brand new, but absolutely familiar.
  4. While your worlds seem utterly disconnected, the paths that you’ve individually taken bring you together at freakish randomness.
  5. This person makes you see the world through a different filter.
  6. As hard as you try, this person is living in  every corner of your mind.
  7. When you kiss, it’s like you live inside that kiss forever, but yet it feel brand new.
  8. You are desperate to be with them and you will move heaven and earth to do so.
  9.  Even with challenges seemingly insurmountable, true love will find a way.
  10. This connection has changed you, significantly altered you–to the core!

Another great quote: “The definition of a miracle is when God gives you a choice and you make the right one.”

There’s much more to be gained from watching this movie and I really hope you’ll give it a chance. More importantly, give yourself a chance, take off the old filters and open yourself up to the possibility of find love!

About Human Relationships (excerpt)

Seaside surf with man and dogs
Everything is in perfect alignment with your soul’s purpose

Relationship—of all kinds—are now coming to the forefront of your collective consciousnesses. How you relate to each other—at all levels—has undergone a mass change, or as some have called it, an upgrade. These changes or upgrades are not evenly accepted across human consciousness. As such, not everyone is, as you say, “on board” with each other.

At these times, we recommend that you realize that no one can be forced or coerced into accepting these changes. Each soul has its own progression; there is no point in trying to coerce a soul to become something it has no desire for—or sooner than it’s ready. When in intimate relationship with another, this can be difficult—in all levels of your being. When you love someone, it’s difficult for you to see a gap growing between your loved one and yourself. The natural urge is to reach out and pull them to you, sometimes without asking. If you ask, especially on a soul-level, if that person is ready to take that leap of faith—to “catch up” with you—then, and only then, you may extend your hand, and heart, to the beloved.

You call to you certain experiences, in the form of people and events, which your soul requires for growth. These experiences may not be pleasant, so your tendency is to call that experience “bad” or unwanted. It is true that in an immediate sense, you would not “consciously” choose…or desire…to bring these kinds of experiences to you; however, it is important for you to understand that they are necessary. To the extent that you learn the “lesson” of the experience, you will be able to re-process it as “good” and beneficial. To the extent that you resist the lesson of the experience, you will continue to draw to you similar people and events for the growth of your soul in this lifetime.

There is a common misunderstanding about experiences, even from the point of view of more advanced souls, that you are shaped or molded by these people or events. We wish you to reframe this understanding in terms of your beingness. All perception revolves around the individual perceiver.
