How to Create GIF Promos » Redbubble Blog

pizza_party_hillarywhiteRegardless of how you pronounce them, Gifs (or Jifs) are a great way to promote your work on social media. Unlike videos, Gifs are generally short and get right to action, which is ideal for catching the attention of potential fans.

Let’s create a quick gif promo to show how they can help step up your promotional game. For the purposes of this tutorial, we’ll be using Adobe Photoshop. However, any image editor that allows for the creation of gifs should have similar tools and methods.

Step 1: The first thing you want to do is decide what kind of animation you would like to have. For example, in the image above the animation is very simple. Complex animations mean more frames in the Gif, which can increase the file size quickly.

Step 2: Now that all the layers are ready, it’s time to prepare the animation. Open up the Timeline editor from the “Window” menu. Once the timeline opens up, click the button that says “Create Frame Animation”. In newer versions of Photoshop you can create and edit videos, however for the purposes of making a simple animated Gif, frame animation is the way to go.

Step 3: Now that everything is setup it’s time to animate. From the animation menu choose “Create Frame”, or you can also choose the “Duplicate Frame” from the toolbar. In order to make it look like the mice are dropping down, we need to create the first and last frame of the animation.

Step 4: Now that Frame 1 and 2 is setup, acting as the first and final frame of the animation, it’s time for tweening. Select both frames by holding shift, and then click the “Tweens Animation Frames” button in the toolbar. In the popup window, you can choose how many new frames to add. As there is already 2 frames, we are going to add 3 frames. The more frames you have the smoother your animation will be, however we know we’re going to add some more frames for other effects, so 5 total frames for this animation is good.

Step 5: Now let’s create a new layer at the very top with some text. When you add new layers to your animation, you’ll notice that the new layer is visible in every frame of your current animation. Instead of editing each frame and hiding this layer, select all of your current frames and turn the visibility of the layer off. Now you can turn the layer on in the frames we want them to be visible. To get the text to show, create a new frame and enable the layer. It will now show up once the mice drop down in the animation.

Finish: Once you have your gif finished, go to File>Export>Save for Web, and make sure to choose gif from the preset drop-down. From this window you can see the current size dimensions and filesize. Since this promo is going to be used on social media, 1080px x 1080px will work quite well for Instagram, Facebook, and more. You can also optimize your gif settings, which can help lower the filesize. Before saving you can preview your gif and even change the looping options.

Forgiveness and God’s Grace by Sharon Milliman

That it was a journey of healing for my body and for my soul. It is a journey because some hurts take a lifetime to forgive and we just can’t do it on our own. We need God to help us. But the WILL to forgive is the first step.

After my Near Death Experience, I learned that with God everything is Grace. Our very existence is by His Grace. He is constantly pouring out His love and grace upon us.

There is a saying” There but for the grace of God go any one of us”.

Truly, it is by His grace that we are where we are in life. As I have said before, when I had my life review, I never felt as though I was being judged. God does not judge us, we judge ourselves standing before Him. But, as I watched my life passing before me, I saw everything I ever said or did and there was no sense of remorse of guilt. All I felt was complete love and total acceptance.

There was no sense of being held bound by any past events nor were there any feelings of anger or resentment or any unresolved issues tying me down and keeping me trapped in time. All had been forgiven. I had let go of everything. I learned that forgiveness is the freedom of letting go.

That it was a journey of healing for my body and for my soul. It is a journey because some hurts take a lifetime to forgive and we just can’t do it on our own. We need God to help us. But the WILL to forgive is the first step.

Forgiveness is a process and it takes time, sometimes it takes years, and in some cases a lifetime. I learned that forgiveness is a creative act that takes us from prisoners of the past with hurtful memories, to strong, loving people living in the present who are free of the chains that kept us bound, and are now at peace. There is peace because all of the unresolved issues, and the hurt, and bitterness are gone which brings peace to the soul and harmony to one’s life. Forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting the wrong that was done to us; it means no longer feeling the pain that was done.

Unforgiveness, is a chain that keeps us held bound. We don’t have to forgive others. It is not a requirement. But if we want to be free and we want to heal from the hurts of life, then it is something that we need. Normally, the other party, or parties involved don’t care if they are forgiven, especially if they haven’t asked for forgiveness, they have gone on with their lives, completely oblivious to the devastation, and the hurt still left in our heart.

That’s why forgiveness is important; it breaks those chains and frees our heart. We need it in order to grow, otherwise we become stuck. When we become stuck we no longer feel God’s grace.

Of course, It is always there, we just don’t feel it anymore. And then we begin feeling the illusion that God has abandoned us. We need to allow forgiveness to flow through us and around us; and when we are aware that we are now free from those chains that held us bound, we are free to love unconditionally and we can send that unconditional love out into the world around us.

Then, the natural flow of God’s divine love dissolves all the hurt, all the bitterness, all the pain and the sense of being wronged. Then, we can allow His grace to come to us and flow through us, to forgive through us.

There is no more of the illusion of separation, no more feelings of abandonment. Forgiveness is the greatest form of unconditional love and acceptance. It is a gift that he gives us and it is through His grace that we experience this gift.

Amazon Author Insights—The three versions of your book By Honorée (article repost)

I know it’s tempting to just put out eBooks. In fact, I initially put out a few of the books in The Successful Single Mom series only as eBooks. Eventually I realized the read-through rate was low for those who purchased the paperback because they simply didn’t know any more books in the series existed. It didn’t take many requests for paper versions of the other books in the series before I decided to produce them. Wouldn’t you know they immediately started selling, and I was cash-flow positive on each of the paperback versions within a month for each version. Go figure!

The same is true for the audiobook versions of my book. On more than a few occasions, I’ve been told, “I’ll wait for the audiobook. When is it going to be released?” I believe audiobooks have a bright future. Audible (Amazon’s audiobook division) makes it easy for authors to find professional voice talent and have their books produced. They even offer a no-upfront-investment option. I’m selling more audiobooks month-over-month because more people are discovering Audible and listening to their books in addition to, or instead of, reading them.

Why you should always ‘Like’ your own Facebook posts (article repost)

Facebook has made numerous changes to their user interface of late, and one of the most reviled changes of them all were changes to the news feed and the introduction of the Ticker.
Facebook logo

Now, instead of seeing all of your friends’ posts, you only see a selected few (selected by Facebook of course) showing up in your news feed. Under the new “Edge Rank” system, friends that don’t “Like” and comment on your posts usually stop seeing them altogether before too long.

In order to compensate for not showing your posts in some of your friends’ news feeds, Facebook added the ticker – a box in the right-hand column that lists the activities of your friends as they happen. This is where “Liking” your own posts comes into play.

When you “Like” a post, that action is noted in your friends’ ticker boxes, giving them a chance to at least be made aware that you have posted something even if it doesn’t show up in their news feeds.

Five Perks of Having a Video Homepage (article summary)

Without any doubt, your homepage is essential for the first impression your business makes on the visitors. Some would say that it acts as your online office reception area. Well-designed and tastefully decorated space with all sorts of promotional products at hand and a friendly receptionist can sway those who are not completely sure they want to do business with you. It shouldn’t come as a surprise than that many people opt for a video homepage for their company website.

These are five advantages of having a video homepage.

  1. Enhances company identity – more than a logo or business card, adds a public face to associate with your business
  2. Delivers a full message – 5x more people read the headline than the article body
  3. Engages the audience – explainer video increases visitor experience
  4. Improves the SEO ranking – easier to find, greater audience engagement
  5. Provide unique experience – appeals to audience’s emotions and keep them enthralled

Washington’s 1st Principles of Exec Leadership excerpt

In 1789, much of America recognized the need for presidential authority and energetic leadership despite the ever-present alarm over the potentially abusive power or weak corruptibility of the office. Nothing signaled these apprehensions over the presidency more than the unanimous election of universally trusted George Washington as the new nation’s first president. To his credit, Washington understood this. Although his celebrity encouraged an elite court-like atmosphere wherever he went, Washington counteracted these tendencies early on with his opposition to a regal title. During the title controversy, he brought to his leadership both a widely admired perspective of republican reserve and a willingness to take cues from the people. By consciously mirroring the views of the majority of his countrymen and women, who disdained regal titles as he did, he encouraged public acceptance of the presidency, which added political legitimacy to the office and the new national government.
