I was so moved by watching this video, I wanted to post my “take”…here on my blog.
There are few people who can say that they were shot in the head and lived to tell about it. One of the “lucky” people happens to be a woman who exemplifies all the qualities that anyone of us would be lucky to have. Today, she announced in a video on YouTube that she will be stepping down from her seat in Congress after a year of recovery.
Her face says it all…

Look hard at this courageous face and ask yourself, could you be so strong? Could you go through this event and not be changed in some intrinsic way? Could you withhold blame and move forward, as confidently? Likely, you have no idea…if you have within yourself the heart of a lioness.
My heart goes out to her and her family, of course, but her retirement from Congress is a such a loss to the leadership of our fine country. As the MSNBC journalist points out, she was universally respected and admired even before this incident…even more so now that they can see what I see…how special this woman is. How much she has yet to do.
It is my hope that she can make even more amazing strides on your long road to recovery…but, look how far and how fast she has already come! No doubt it is because of the legion of well-wishers and heartfelt support that continues to receive…from myself as well. It is my belief that it is in no small part because of our energetic support that she is healing so well. Prayer and its like can, and does, provide for miracles everyday; Gabby is a visible reminder of that.
Get better soon, Congresswoman Gabby Giffords! It is my hope that you can find your way back to Congress…someday…because this country needs more people like you!
